Seasons change and so do my go-to brushes
Skin is not a one product fits all kind of thing. Our skin changes dramatically from season to season, not only in texture and hydration levels, but also in shade and health with sun exposure too. That's exactly why the brushes that I automatically reach for throughout the year also changes with the seasons.
3 things I want from my makeup in Summer
Translucency. Skin is healthier in summer, fact. When paired with the right skincare and protection, the sun can work wonders to clear up blemishes, even out skin tone and improve texture. My skin is on point at this time of year, so why would I want to hide it away below heavy foundation and products. Therefore the brushes I use tend to allow me to build makeup in layers.
Vibrance. When you're soaking up that all important vitamin D this summer, your skin comes alive! Dark circles reduce and that beautiful flush comes over your face. So for me, it's so important that I only apply makeup where it's actually needed. That's why I tend to go for brushes with smaller heads, so allow natural skin shine through where it can.
Hydration. With summer comes the glorious sun and heat, so hydration is key for me. That doesn't only mean drinking lots of water, it means I use more moisturising skin care and makeup too so I can nourish my skin throughout the day. This means I use much less powders in Summer too. So I tend to do for brushes that will work with creamy light makeup rather that heavier self-setting products.
So what are my go-to brushes for Summer 2023?

I talked about using smaller brushes so I just get product where I want it and not overloading the face in areas where makeup just isn't needed. Well this is my secret weapon! Whether I want to add a little light or shade to different areas, this brush allows me to do that easily.
- The '204' Tapered Blender Brush. For me summer isn't about a heavy smokey eye, it's about a light subtle eye which blends effortlessly into the skin. I love a healthy glow in Summer and this brush allows me to achieve it. Don't get me wrong, if you need that banging smoked eye for whatever reason, this brush will give you edges you can only dream of!
- The '207' Highlighter Fan - I mean, do I really even need to explain this?! Summer is all about showing off that gorgeous skin and what gives that glow better than a beautiful luminous highlight on those cheekbones. This highlighter brush is the perfect size and consistency to sweep those areas of the face with even the most subtle of highlighters. It applies and blends with such precision and beauty!
